The XIX edition of the Montoro Olive Fair presents a renewed formula in its Technical Conferences to be held on 17, 18 and 19 May in the Assembly Hall of the Olive Community Heritage. Under the slogan “In search of a decent income for olive groves: conversion and self-regulation”, all visitors to the exhibition are invited to participate in the debate on conversion as a concept of innovation or need; the vision of self-regulation will also be approached from the perspective of the producer, processing, marketing and administration sectors.

The Technical Conferences will be divided into three modules per day, with Luis Rallo Romero, professor of Plant Production at the Department of Agronomy of the University of Cordoba and winner of the XIV Plácido Fernández Viagas Andalusia Research Prize for his research and teaching activity on olive groves, as presenter. Álvaro González Coloma, Manager of the Olivarero Communal Heritage, will open the second and third sessions.

An essential event that has the support and intervention of entities recognized throughout Spain such as the Union of Small Farmers and Cattle Ranchers (UPA), the Coordination of Farmers’ and Cattlemen’s Organizations (COAG), the Agricultural Association of Young Farmers (ASAJA), Designations of Origin, the Spanish Association of Olive Oil Exporting Industry and Commerce (ASOLIVA) or the National Association of Olive Oil Industries (Asociación Nacional de Industrias).

In addition, staff representing institutions such as the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training of the Regional Government of Andalusia (IFAPA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment, the Spanish Federation of Olive Oil Manufacturers (INFAOLIVA), Olive Oil Communal Heritage (PCO) or the Spanish Association of Olive Oil Municipalities (AEMO) will also participate.

Finally, anyone who attends the third module of the Conference will be able to enjoy the visit to two olive mills in Montoro, the explanation of the handling of the fruit and the milling process. A demonstration tasting of five premium oils will be the final touch to close this long-awaited meeting of the Fair attendees.
