The jury of the I GEA-AEMO Award for the Promotion of Olive Oil in the World has chosen the five finalist projects for this award, which will be presented next Thursday, May 17 at 20:30 in the Municipal Theatre “Miguel Romero Esteo” in Montoro.
The initiatives selected as finalists for the award, called by GEA and AEMO, in its first edition were: the Predimed Study on the health benefits of olive oil; chef José Andrés, for his great work in promoting olive oil internationally; the alliance for the quality of olive oil QVExtra! and CEQ-Italy; the “Jaén Selección” project of the Provincial Council of Jaén; and the company Cabello X Mure, for their great work in the design of the packaging of Spanish olive oils.
The members of the jury met at GEA’s headquarters in Madrid to evaluate the initiatives from which the winner of this new award will emerge. The decision will be made public and will be delivered at the professional ceremony to be held at the Municipal Theatre “Miguel Romero Esteo” in Montoro.
The jury is made up of professionals such as Álvaro González-Coloma, manager of the Olivarero Communal Heritage Foundation; Cristóbal Lovera, agricultural engineer and olive grower; Manuel Parras, professor of Marketing and Market Research at the University of Jaén; José Álvarez, regional director of ICEX in Andalusia; Antonio López Farré, professor of Medicine at the Complutense University; Luigi Caricato, editor of the publication Olio Officina and Juan Peñamil, editor of Mercacei.
In addition, Rafael Cárdenas and José María Penco, secretaries of GEA and AEMO, the organizers of the unprecedented award, also acted as secretaries, and the jury was accompanied by AEMO’s President, Ana María Romero, and the President of GEA Iberia, Álvaro Martínez.
The gala presentation of the 1st GEA-AEMO Award for the Promotion of Olive Oil in the World will be hosted by Ezequiel Martínez, presenter for many years of the program “Tierra y Mar” of Canal Sur TV, and will bring together a wide selection of professionals from the olive oil sector at national and international level.
This award is unique in the world for its theme and relevance, as it aims to become the highest annual recognition for the action, initiative or project that has managed to significantly increase the consumption of olive juice at the international level. The prize has an economic endowment of 3,000 euros.
